Poor batting cost the match for Barisal Bulls


Comilla Victorians on Wednesday got an easy 8 wickets win against Barisal Bulls in the eighth match of this season’s Bangladesh Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

Al-Amin Hossain, who claimed a hat trick in the previous match, has picked up the opening wicket of Imrul Kayes in the 4th over of the match. Imrul scored 13 off 19 balls with 2 shots to cross the rope.

Nuwan Kulasekara  has been declared man of the match for his 3 wickets just for 8 runs in 3 overs.

The 37 runs second wicket partnership between Mahmudul Hasan and Marlon Samules broke up when Kevon Cooper took the wicket of Mahmudul (caught by Mahmudullah) in the 13th over of the match. The one down batsman scored 31 runs (43 balls, 4×4).
Afterwards it was all about the Victorians show in the field. Samuels and Shuvagata both were unbeaten at the scores of 23 and 12 respectively.

It is the second consecutive win for the Comilla Victorians while Barisal Bulls has suffered their first defeat of the season.

Earlier, Barisal Bulls posted an easy target of 90 runs against Comilla Victorians in the 8th Twenty20 match of the franchise-based 3rd Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.

Batting first after winning the toss Barisal Bulls were restricted for an 89/10 in 18.3 overs that was the lowest score in this tournament till now.

Number eight batsman Kevon Cooper scored the highest 22 runs off 21 balls with two fours and was trapped lbw by Nuwan Kulasekara at team 81 for 9 in 17.2 overs.

Rony Talukdar scored 17 off 22 balls eith two fours while Sabbir Rahman (10 off 13; 1×4) was the another double ffigur scores for Barisal Bulls.

Nuwan Kulasekara grabbed 3 wickets for super economic 8 runs in 3 overs while Ashar Zaidi captured 3 wickets for economic 16 runs in 4 overs.

Conceding 21 runs each, Abu haider and Sunil Narine took 2 and 1 wicket respectively in 4 and 3.3 overs.
