Cooper becomes highest wicket-taker of BPL-3

There was always a cat race between Rangpur Riders spinner Shakib Al Hasan and Comilla Victorians pacer Abu Haider Rony to become the highest wicket-taker of the ongoing third season of the BRB Cables Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). But finally, it’s the West Indian recruit of Barisal Bulls Kevon Cooper who hit the home run.

Cooper was not even in the picture till the second qualifier of the tournament between Barisal Bulls and Rangpur Riders. But he captured four wickets in that match to take his wicket tally to 20. Coming into the final with having 21 and 20 wickets respectively, both Rony and Cooper had their chance to touch the ultimate glory.
But Rony, the revelation of the tournament who has been on top his game throughput the tournament, failed to take that form in the all-important final. He went for 35 without any hunt and hence, Cooper needed just 2 wickets to become the highest wicket-taker of the prestigious tournament. And he did just what the doctor ordered.
Cooper finished with the figures of 4-0-31-2 to topple Rony and become the highest wicket-taker taker of BPL-3, with 22 scalps in all to his name. However, his individual achievement went in vain as his team eventually lost the match to the Victorians in the final and had to be satisfied being the runners-up of the tournament.
