Kevon Cooper returns second best bowling figure in BPL

The screenplay was set for another Darren Sammy brilliance. But ultimately it was owned by Kevon Cooper as he became the second bowler in the history of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) after Mohammad Sami to take a five-wicket haul. He notched three wickets in the last over, and another wicket fell courtesy to run out.
In the previous match against Chittagong Vikings, Rangpur Riders needed 14 runs and it was Sammy who took them to the victory with a quickfire 18 off 7 balls. And once again today against Barisal Bulls, Rangpur needed 15 runs and Darren Sammy was there. But he this time he failed to script another fairy tale. He threw away his wicket in the very first ball of the over, playing a reckless lofted shot to be caught eventually at long off to S Prasanna.
The next ball went for a no run. In the next ball, Mohammad Al Amin got run out. Then came Saqlain Sajib to strike. He took a single and gave the strike to M Ali. Ali also became one of Cooper’s victim, being caught by Taijul Islam at cover. And then Abu Jayed was the last victim to Cooper brilliance. He was caught by Mahmudullah at mid-on, as the Barisal captain captured a one-handed blinder.
Earlier Cooper plucked the wickets of Rangpur’s two biggest batsmen Shakib Al Hasan and Misbah-ul-Haq as well. Eventually he returned the figures of 4-1-15-5, which is now the second best bowling figure in BPL. The best figure owes to Mohammad Sami, who took 5 wickets with a hat-trick for just 6 runs in the first edition of BPL.
