Shakib finds form

Jannatul Naym Pieal
Shakib Al Hasan is the biggest star of Bangladesh cricket. He is not only the number one all-rounder in the world, but also world’s one of the most experienced T20 cricketers around the world because of his presence in almost every single domestic T20 competition of the world. He was also the Man of the Tournament in both of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL)’s previous two versions.
And this year Shakib is also the icon cricketer as well as team skipper of Rangpur Riders. So expectation was definitely high on him. But he disappointed his large fan base in the other day with failing with both the bat and the ball. Though his team won the match against Chittagong Vikings in a nail-biting climax, Shakib’s individual performance was nowhere near his potential. But it was later learnt that he landed in the country just two hours before the commencement of the match. He had a long, tiring 49-hour journey. So it is understood that it was his restlessness, for which he couldn’t flourish.
But Shakib has brilliantly came back to form in the very next game of his side against Barisal Bulls on Monday. Bowling first, Rangpur were able to restrict the Mahmudullah Riyad-led side within a modest total of 150. And for Rangpur, Shakib emerged as the most successful bowler. He gave away only 23 runs in his four overs, with capturing as many as 3 wickets. He first removed Brendon Taylor in the third over of the match to turn Barisal 4 for the loss of 3. Then he one by one plucked the wickets ofof Barisal captain Mahmudullah and promising batsman Nadif Chowdhury as well.
Thisara Perera also notched three wickets for Rangpur but he conceded 29 runs and proved expensive in the slog overs. So there shouldn’t be any doubt that Shakib was the most effective bowler of his side today. Now it is to watch how much the maverick all-rounder can contribute in batting while chasing his teams second consecutive victory in the tournament.
