Lewis’s Century Smashes Dhaka Dynamites
Barishal Bulls 159/1 (Lewis 101*, Rony 38, Abul 1-22) Beat Dhaka Dynamites 158/5 (Sangakara 60, Doeschate 45*, Prasanna 2-23)
What a display of dominance throughout the innings of Barishal Bulls, just like the first game of today’s Barishal also got the victory by 9 wickets making their way stronger to be in the semifinals. It was Lewis who made the maiden century for this edition of BPL and put the team in the victory lap. Rony and Lewis put on a hundred run partnership, before departing from his partner Rony scored 38 runs just of 34 balls. It was almost done when Lewis took 30+ runs in the second over of Ten Doeschate. That one single over made a huge difference in the match and also in the result, from that moment the game became more one sided one.
There’s nothing special came out from the bowlers, the only wicket came from Abul Hossain who also gave away 22 runs from his 2 overs. Nasir Hossain who kept the Barishal under pressure gave away only 15 runs from his 4 overs. But apart from him none of the bowlers could keep the rates below six. Defending a average total like 158 needs more dominance from the bowlers which was missing from this match.
Earlier in the innings, The match started off quite well, the captain again leading from the front making 60 runs but at one point it seemed like Dhaka had fallen flat. Ten Doeschate who made a quick 45 runs helped the team to push their run rate further up and reach to a respective total. But none of the Bangladeshi batsmen stood a chance against the bowlers Barishal Bulls; the top Bangladeshi scorer was Shykat Ali, who made only 15 runs. Cooper and Prasanna got 2 wickets each and Mahmudullah got 1; they kept it tight until Doeschate came to the crease and hit 3 sixes to cover up the run rate.
