Thirimanne goes to Dhaka from Comilla

Sri Lanka batsman Lahiru Thirimanne was bought by Comilla Victorians in the Player by Choice on October 22. But it has been revealed on Wednesday that instead of Comilla, the Sri Lankan will play for Dhaka Dynamites in the third season of BPL.
According to reports, though Comilla initially roped in the Sri Lankan national, they later lost their interest on him and made no contact with him. Later Thirimanne himself made a contact with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and then the Comilla franchise informed BCB that they don’t want to take Thirimanne.
It would become another embarrassment on the image of BPL unless Dhaka took them. Dhaka team manager said they have registered Thirimanne following all the necessary formalities.
“We were informed by the BPL governing council that Comilla franchise had released Thirimanne and we could take him. We were interested to according to all the rules, we have taken him in our team. There is no problem with his NOC or other official papers,” said Athar.
However, Comilla manager Khaled Mashud Pilot denied the news of releasing Thirimanne. He said, everything was done with mutual understanding. “Dhaka showed their interest on Thirimanne. We also felt like not necessary to have him in our team. So we gave our consent to give him away to Dhaka.”
BPL governing council chairman said the process of Thirmanne’s changing team was done according to the by-laws. “We followed the by-laws properly. It is written there that one player can go to another team before the commencement of the match if both the teams give their consent.”
