Nafees looking to partner with Chris Gayle

Shahriar Nafees will play for his home team Barisal Bulls in the third season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Barisal Bulls will also get the service of Caribbean ‘Batting Tornado’ Chris Gayle in some part of the BPL. So there is a chance that Nafees, the discarded national opener might share the same crease with Gayle. And ahead of that possibility, Nafees said he is very excited as that would be an extraordinary experience for him.

After the practice session of Barisal Bulls at the Mirpur Academy Ground on Sunday, Nafees said, “It’s going to be wonderful experience for me to batting alongside Gayle. A batsman like him is an asset for any team in the world. When he is here, I might get opportunity to open the innings with him. We, the local players, will be giving our hundred percent to make a good performance in the BPL.”

Barisal will play their first match of this year’s BPL against Rangpur Riders. Nafees said they will be looking to start the tournament on a winning note. “Definitely we want to pick up a victory in our inaugural match of the tournament. But you know it’s T20 cricket where you cannot make a premeditated performance. This is going to be a tough game.”
