Misbah modeled Riders’ win in the 1st match

Rangpur Riders has registered the first win of the third edition of the Bangladesh Premier League; they have beaten Chittagong Vikings by 2 wickets in the thrilling tournament opener today at the Sher – E – Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
Pakistan veteran star batsman Misbah – Ul – Haque produced a steady but sturdy knock of 61 run in the middle order to help past the Riders the competitive winning target of 188 runs.
When Misbah’s stumps were threatened by his fellow countryman Mohammad Amir in the 3rd ball of the 19th over, Rangpur Riders hopes of reaching in the port of victory became obscure; but dashing Caribbean hitter Darren Sammy blown away Vikings bowlers with 2 fours and a six in the ultimate over of the match.
He became run out with 1 run left to score for the victory as Anamul Haque Bijoy made a wild throw which shattered his stumps before the completion of the second run which made by Saqlain Sajib in the very last ball of the match – ending a nail biting finish of the match.
Running after a rather daunting total of 187 runs launched by Chittagong Vikings after batting first, the Riders started in a rather belligerent fashion with young sensation Soumya Sarkar began throwing Vikings bowlers all around the ground.
In the 22 run opening partnership, Lendl Simmons of West Indies contributed only a single run when Soumya scored 20 runs facing 9 balls with 3 fours and a six before being unfortunately trapped in front by Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir although the television replays denied the decision taken by the field umpires.
After one down Mohammad Mithun made a 3 ball duck and Simmons became the second victim of Amir, Rangpur Riders fall in a dismal condition losing 3 for 22.
Star all rounder and icon of the Riders Shakib Al Hasan flew from United States to join in the first match of the tournament but frustrated the supporters with a totally failed innings. He scored a single run facing 6 balls.
Al – Amin played a good knock of 38 runs (28 balls, 4×3, 6×1) before he was uprooted by Zimbabwean star all rounder Elton Chigumbura.
Thisara Perera built up a huge 80 run partnership in the sixth wicket with Misbah – Ul – Haque. Perera’s 43 run innings came to an end at the 19th over of the match, becoming the third victim of Amir.
