Comilla has gone to the final by smashing Rangpur
In the qualifier match of BPL 3 which was held in Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur on Saturday, Comilla Victorians has defeated Rangpur Riders by…… runs. After winning the toss Rangpur Riders has taken field first.
Comilla Victorians opener duo Liton Das and Imrul Kayes have given a flying start. Imrul Kayes played a fascinating innings of 67 with seven boundaries and two massive sixes from only 48 balls while his opening partner Liton Das scored 28 runs from 37 balls featuring one boundary.
Overseas player Zaidi played a cameo innings of 40 runs which was consisted of four boundaries and two huge sixes while Shuvagata contributed 12 runs to set a target of 164 against Rangpur.
Rangpur Riders bowlers failed to maintain their line and length in the first 10 overs but they came back sharply later in the game as overseas player Thisara perera bagged a 5 wicket haul in 4 overs by giving only 26 runs. The spinner Sajib and Nabi took one wicket each for the team.
To chase the huge target of 164 runs, Rangpur Riders has started a good innings. Opener Soumya made 9 runs with one four while overseas player Simmons scored 25 runs featuring five boundaries. These two batsmen lead the team to 36. But Rangpur’s trouble has started after these batsmen went out. They have lost too many wickets frequently. Rangpur’s middle order batsman Mithun made 5 runs with one four while ace all-rounder Shakib out for a duck.
Comilla victorians young sensational pacer Abu Haider and overseas spinner Zaidi bagged two wickets each while overseas spinner Zaidi took one wicket for his franchise team. However, the Rangpur Riders managed to score 59 /4 in 10 overs.
After ending the 10th over, Chittagong’s has fallen into trouble again. They have lost both Mohammad Nabi and Jahurul Islam. Nabi went out for 12 while Jahurul went out for 9 runs.
After Jahurul the lower order batsman Al Amin managed to score only 3 runs and went out when the total score of the team’s was 68 from 13.3 overs. Then Thishara Perera tried to make a good score, but failed as well. He managed to make only 11 runs with a boundary. Comilla’s spinners have taken the rest of the wickets and managed to all out Rangpur Riders by 91 runs.
The two spinners Abu Hider and Ashar Zaidi have taken 4 wickets each and made Rangpur all out.
This win has taken Comilla Victorians directly to the final of this BPL.
