‘Mustafizur the next superstar of Bangladesh cricket’
Kumar Sangakkara, the Sri Lankan legend, has termed his Dhaka Dynamites teammate Mustafizur Rahman as the next superstar of Bangladesh cricket. Sangakkara believes the effervescence of Mustafizur in the Bangladesh national cricket team has strengthen the Tigers and Mustafizur might be the chosen one to take them to the next stride of world cricket.
“I don’t think he (Mustafizur) is anything sort of a mystery bowler. But one thing I can say with surety that he is amazing with the ball and possesses great potentiality. Not only has he versatility in him, his mental strength and maturity are also fantastic,” said Sangakkara.
The Dynamites captain was also impressed with Mustafizur’s keenness to learn more. He said, “Mustafizur is an attentive learner. He is always eager to learn something new and adapt to that accordingly. His inclusion is like a blessing for Bangladesh team. Everytime I met with any foreign players, they were full of praise for Mustafizur. He is the surprise package to each and everyone. I believe within next two or three years, he will become the next superstar of Bangladesh.”
However Sangakkara has some tips for his fellow teammate as well. “It’s always difficult to manage him at the nets. You need time to cope with his variations. But you know what, nothing lasts forever. If he wants to keep his current impression alive, he must bring more versatility in his technique. He is now an asset for the team but he needs to grow better everyday to keep this position in the coming years,” added Sangakkara, who shared place with Mustafizur at the ICC ODI Team of the Year 2015.
