Perera aims to play even better

The Man of the Match award might have gone to Misbah-ul-Haq for his blistering knock of 61 off 32 balls. But another man was also very much deserving to bag the award and he is Thisara Perera.
After faltering to 23 for 4, Misbah first stitched a 65 runs with Mohammad Al Amin. But the partnership that turned the match on its head was of between Misbah and Perera, who shared 80 runs between them for the sixth wicket. And in that stand, Perera’s contribution was bigger as he played a quickfire knock of 43 runs from just 17 balls. During his innings, he clobbered 4 fours and 3 maximums. He was removed by Amir in the 19th over, otherwise he could have crossed the fifty-run mark as well, given the way he was playing.
Still he has contributed in a big way in his team’s win and he was quite satisfied with his performance. “It feels good to play such a knock. I am genuinely a bowling all-rounder. But I have had some good batting session in net, which helped me to play this way. But my main job is of course with the ball and I want to do better as a bowler as well. Overall I would like to play even better cricket in the matches to come.”
