Sammy excited to play alongside Shakib

Caribbean all-rounder Darren Sammy arrived in Dhaka on Thursday to play for Rangpur Riders in the third season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). In Rangpur, he will get the likes of Shakib Al Hasan, Misbah-ul-Haq and Wahab Riaz beside him. But Sammy specifically mentioned the name of Shakib Al Hasan, number one all-rounder in the world, with whom he is excitedly waiting to play.

“I am quite excited to play alongside Shakib. He is a brilliant cricketer. I once missed chance to play as his teammate earlier this year. He was supposed to play for St. Lucia Zouks in the CPL but he couldn’t participate in the tournament.”

Sammy also believes with the help of BPL, Bangladesh cricket will move one further step ahead. “This tournament will help to unearth hidden talents. The World T20 is ahead. Prior to that, such a tournament will be quite helpful to discover new local talents. I hope this tournament will be successful and also an exciting one.”

About the Rangpur Riders squad Sammy said, “Our team has been formed with wonderful balance. Shakib is an awesome player. Not only Bangladesh, he is conquering the whole world. We have some experienced players as well. Apart from Misbah and Simmons, I can mention of my name as well. The local performers are also promising. In all, our team is already a strong contender for the title. Now we have to play according to our merit in the field.”
